Night Run

Night Run is a project i've been having on my mind during these hot summer nights. One night i went for a round on my bike around the city, and it just got to me how there are so many colorful, vibrant lights at night, but not during the day. The faster I rode, the more vibrant and sharper they got, but also less definable. This project tries to combine the rush of light and the dim texture of the summer night.

In the print version some of the details are more noticeable. The neon outline of the runner is nothing else but an extruded spline that sticks out of the wall with a yellow emission material on it.

Behind the extruded spline there's a thick relief object, which gives base to the runner shape, it also has some subsurface scattering and transmission making the border areas light up in a red tint.

Some shapes are inspired by the classic Ferrari Testarossa's cooling vent design. I always loved streamlines in car design.

The bottom light source is a cut-out shape that has an emission material inside it.

The text is a boolean object that cuts out letter-shaped holes from the wall panel, and inside it I placed the rims of the letters's wireframes and added emission material to it with a gradient color.
