A famous quote from The Lord of the Rings when the fellowship was just about to escape Moria and Gandalf tries to stop the Balrog, which I later found it that this exact quote was phrased differently in the book to my greatest disappointment! But in any case, there are forces in the universe that won't be stopped and this illustration was meant to depict just that.
